Privacy Policy
Last updated November 4, 2026
This policy explains what information LobbyVerse, operated by Groovy Ape, LLC ("we", "us"), handles when you visit this website, when you make an account, or when a game server you run appears in our listings. We have no advertising and no analytics trackers, so the list is short.
Information about visitors
- Server logs. Like most websites, our web server records each request: your IP address, the page requested, the time, and your browser's user agent. We use these logs to keep the site running and to investigate abuse, and delete them on a rolling basis.
- Approximate location. To show servers near you first, we look up the approximate location (country and nearest city) of your IP address in a database stored on our own servers. The lookup is not saved or shared, and you can sort or filter the list any other way at any time.
- Error reports. When a page fails we send a report to our error-monitoring provider (Sentry), which can include the request details above.
- Cookies. We set a session cookie that protects forms against cross-site request forgery and, if you sign in, keeps you signed in; it's deleted when you close your browser. If you choose "keep me signed in", a second cookie remembers you for two weeks. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
- Third-party assets. Pages load fonts from Google Fonts and icons from the jsDelivr CDN. Your browser connects to these providers directly, so they receive your IP address under their own privacy policies.
Accounts
You need an account only to claim and manage a server. Depending on how you sign in, we keep:
- Steam, Discord, Google or Twitch: that account's ID, public name, picture and profile link, refreshed when you sign in. We don't ask these services for your email.
- Steam friends: if your Steam friend list is public, we store your friends' Steam IDs, names and pictures, refreshed daily, to show you where they play (only for friends whose game details are public on Steam). Only you see this. It is deleted when you turn it off, unlink Steam, delete your account, or haven't signed in for 90 days.
- Email and password: your email, used only to sign you in, confirm the address and reset your password, and your password stored as a one-way hash we can't read. These emails are sent through Postmark.
- For servers you claim: what you add to its page (description, Discord invite, website) and, if you turn on alerts, your Discord webhook address, stored encrypted. For servers that stream their logs to LobbyVerse, we also keep when each player, by SteamID, joined and left (kept 90 days). For servers that stream their logs or that you open the Console of, we also keep the addresses players connect from, including the network each belongs to, stored encrypted, visible only to you, kept 90 days, and never shared with other owners or shown anywhere else. If you ban a player's address, it is used only on your own servers and never shared.
- To keep your account safe: each browser you're signed in on (its IP address, rough country and browser name, until it's signed out or unused for 30 days) and a log of sign-ins and security changes (the same details, kept 90 days), both shown to you on your Sign-in & security page. If you turn on two-factor sign-in, its secret is stored encrypted.
You can unlink sign-in methods and sign out any browser on your Sign-in & security page, and delete your account from your Account page or by contacting us.
Information about game servers and players
We collect information that game servers publish to anyone who asks: the server's IP address and port, name, map, player count, settings ("rules"), and the in-game names and scores of players currently connected. We look up an approximate location (country) for each server's IP address. This data comes from Steam's public server list and from the servers themselves. On claimed servers whose owner streams their logs or uses the Console, we also keep the addresses players connect from, including the network each belongs to (kept 90 days, encrypted, visible only to that server's owner).
For servers whose owners stream their logs to LobbyVerse, the server's page shows who joined and left recently, by in-game name, as any server browser shows who is on a server. Players who hide their play history (sign in with Steam, Account page) or whose Steam profile is private are left out.
For servers that stream their logs, LobbyVerse keeps when each player, identified by their SteamID, joined and left, and shows it on a player page (names used, servers, time played) for 90 days, unless their Steam profile is private. A player can hide it by signing in with Steam on their Account page.
How we use and share information
We use this information only to run the server browser and its status banners. We do not sell information or share it with anyone except the service providers named above, or where the law requires it.
Your choices
If you run a server and would like it removed from our listings, or you want us to delete information about you, contact us at [email protected]. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, which you can exercise the same way. If you'd rather not have your play history on servers that stream their logs shown at all, sign in with Steam and hide it on your Account page, or email us your SteamID64 and we'll hide and delete it.
Children
LobbyVerse is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
